Jesse Remington High School Pond Ecology Class is partnering with Charmingfare Farm in efforts to restore and improve the water quality of one of the ponds.

Clean water and apealing landscaping is a priority for Charmingfare Farm, in that they are a public facility that hosts thousands of visitors per year from around New England. The public desires to see a clean pond with the appropriate aquatic species such as ducks and geese. Keeping a pond clean requires proper planning and care of the land around the pond.

Jesse Remington High School project based curriculum has students work on real life issues, applying the knowledge they are learning from the classical curriculum at Jesse Remington High School

This group of students (picture of students on completed waterfall) has been studying about pond water quality and how to manage watersheds(link to watershed) for the protection of water quality. Working at Charmingfare Farm has provided a small-scale example of the importance of land-use and land-cover on protecting the integrity of water quality. As New Hampshire and the Northeast continue to experience population and community growth it is important that we teach this generation about the importance of planning how to develop within watersheds with the least impacts on our regions surface and groundwater water quality.

The Board, Staff, Alumni, Parents, and Students would like to thank Mr. John Pyteraf of Charmingfare Farm for the opportunity to present students this learning opportunity.
