Zoo Keepers
Charmingfare Farm is a state & federally licensed zoo. We are seeking several energetic individuals as full-time animal care attendants to care for a diverse group of animals. The animal includes both farm animals and wildlife. The applicants of choice must at least 18 years of age, have a strong desire to work with animals, knowledgeable in animal husbandry, capable of performing vigorous physical activities, prepared to work in inclement weather, motivated, organized and have the ability to work well with all staff and visitors.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for daily care, maintenance and health management of an assortment of animals
  • Motivation and supervision of staff
  • Cleaning of animal facilities, exhibits, buildings and outside enclosure
  • Prepare a wide variety of animal diets
  • Help create and implement environmental enrichment programs
  • Behavioral observations 
  • Providing assistance in administering veterinary care
  • Record keeping
  • Exhibit modification
  • Landscaping and general grounds maintenance required
  • Public interaction in both formal and informal presentations
  • Assist with educational programs
  • Have the ability to work within a team

Trail Guides
Charmingfare Farm is looking for a part-time lead trail guides for our fall season. We believe our horses are the best in the area and we take great pride in their condition and appearance. Our guests are very important to us and deserve staff that is willing to be fun, friendly, prompt, safe and extremely attentive at all times. We are looking for dedicated, reliable, hardworking, friendly horse loving people who want to work outside giving guided horseback riding tours. Candidates are required to be professional and have the maturity to make decisions that will keep our quests and horses safe. The right candidates for this position need to demonstrate they have strong equine skills. If you cannot confidently answer yes to the following questions then you are not the right person we are seeking at this time. Perhaps you should consider inquiring about our internship or stipend program to gain experience.

  • Are you able to tack and bridle a horse without a refresher course?
  • Are you physically fit to mount the horse from the ground (not a mounting block)?
  • Are you able to ride at least six hours or more hours per day?
  • Do you have the ability to match riders to the appropriate mount?
  • Have the experience and maturity to make decisions that will keep our quests and horses safe?

Fall is our busiest time of year for trail rides. We are looking for a lead rider for weekends. Therefore, if you cannot work EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND Saturday & Sunday during the months of September & October please do not apply for this position.

Trial guides are responsible for tacking and un-tacking of the trail horses. Rides normally operate between 9am and 5pm. We pay our guides $10 per ride plus gratuities. Gratuities vary according to each person’s customer skills and effectiveness in pleasing the riders. TIPS CAN BE A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT.
